Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format (Manuscript template).
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers as part of our double-blind peer review process.

Author Guidelines

The Journal of Resilient Urbanism and Sustainable Design (JRUSD) welcomes original manuscripts that strictly follow the formatting and style presented in our official template. Authors are requested to adhere to the following detailed guidelines when preparing their submissions:

1. Manuscript Format
File type: Submit your manuscript in Microsoft Word format (.docx).

Paper size: A4 (21.0 cm x 29.7 cm)

Margins: Top 2.54 cm, Bottom 2.54 cm, Left 3.17 cm, Right 3.17 cm

Font: Use Palatino Linotype for all text.

Font size:

Title: 14 pt, bold, centered

Author names and affiliations: 11 pt, centered

Abstract and main text: 11 pt, justified

Headings: 12 pt, bold

Subheadings: 11 pt, bold

Figure and table captions: 10 pt, italic

Line spacing: Single (1.0)

Paragraph spacing: Use one line break between paragraphs; do not indent the first line.

2. Title and Author Details
The paper title must be concise and in bold (14 pt), centered at the top of the page.

List all author names below the title in 11 pt, centered.

Affiliations should follow the authors' names, marked with superscript numbers and also centered.

Include the corresponding author’s email address.

3. Abstract and Keywords
An abstract of 150–250 words should appear after the author information.

Include 3–5 keywords after the abstract, separated by commas.

4. Main Body Structure
Manuscripts should follow this recommended structure:

  • Introduction
  • Literature Review or Theoretical Framework
  • Research Methodology
  • Findings and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgments (if applicable)
  • References

5. Figures and Tables
Insert figures and tables near the relevant text where they are discussed.

Number all figures and tables sequentially (e.g., Figure 1, Table 1).

Captions must be concise and italicized (10 pt).

All figures and tables must be cited in the text.

6. References
Follow APA 7th Edition style for references. Use a hanging indent (0.5 inch) for all references. List references alphabetically at the end of the manuscript.

7. Length and Language
Manuscripts should be between 8,000 and 12,000 words (excluding references). Submissions must be written in clear and professional English.

8. Submission
Submit your manuscript via Submissions. All submissions will be peer-reviewed through a double-blind review process.

9. Template Usage
Authors must use the official JRUSD Template. No other formats will be accepted.

10. The author query form
This form is used by authors to respond to reviewers’ comments during the peer-review process. Authors are expected to address each reviewer’s point clearly and systematically—typically by restating the comment and providing a corresponding response and/or revisions made in the manuscript. The form helps editors and reviewers track how the authors have handled the feedback and whether their concerns have been adequately addressed.  Download here

Privacy Statement

The Journal of Resilient Urbanism and Sustainable Design (JRUSD) respects the privacy of all users, including authors, reviewers, editors, and readers. Any personal data collected by JRUSD are used only for the purposes of journal operation, editorial management, and publication services, and are handled in a responsible and confidential manner.

  • Data collected: JRUSD may collect personal information such as name, affiliation, email address, ORCID iD (if provided), and submission- or review-related metadata necessary for managing manuscripts and peer review.
  • Purpose of use: Personal data are used to (i) process submissions, (ii) administer peer review (including double-blind review workflows), (iii) communicate editorial decisions and publication updates, (iv) manage author and reviewer accounts, and (v) maintain the integrity and traceability of the scholarly record.
  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts, peer-review reports, and editorial correspondence are treated as confidential. Personal data and manuscript-related records are accessible only to authorized editorial staff and, where relevant, to assigned editors and reviewers.
  • Sharing with third parties: JRUSD does not sell, rent, or trade personal data. Information is not shared with third parties except where required for essential journal services (e.g., website hosting or email delivery) or when required by law. Any service providers engaged by JRUSD are expected to handle data securely and only for the intended purpose.
  • Emails and notifications: JRUSD may send emails related to submissions, review invitations, editorial decisions, publication notices, and journal administration. Users may update communication preferences where applicable.
  • Data security: JRUSD applies reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. However, no internet-based system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
  • Data retention: JRUSD retains personal data and editorial records only for as long as necessary to fulfill editorial, legal, and scholarly record-keeping requirements, including maintaining the integrity of published content and peer-review history.
  • User rights: Users may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal data, subject to reasonable limits and the journal’s obligations to preserve the scholarly record (e.g., published articles, editorial logs). Requests should be submitted to the Editorial Office.
