Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission is original, has not been previously published, and is not currently under consideration by another journal. Any related manuscripts or prior versions have been disclosed to the Editor.
  • The submission file must be prepared in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or LaTeX format. (JRUSD Word manuscript template) or (JRUSD LaTeX manuscript template).
  • DOIs or stable URLs have been provided for references where available.
  • The manuscript follows the formatting and structural requirements specified in the JRUSD Author Guidelines and official manuscript template.

Author Guidelines

The Journal of Resilient Urbanism and Sustainable Design (JRUSD) welcomes original manuscripts that strictly follow the formatting and style presented in our official template. Authors are requested to adhere to the following detailed guidelines when preparing their submissions:

Authors must prepare manuscripts in accordance with the official JRUSD Author Guidelines and use the official Word or LaTeX manuscript template.

Manuscripts that do not follow the journal’s basic structural, ethical, and reporting requirements may be returned before peer review.

Authors must use the official JRUSD template. No other formats will be accepted.

The author query form: This form is used by authors to respond to reviewers’ comments during the peer-review process. Authors are expected to address each reviewer’s point clearly and systematically—typically by restating the comment and providing a corresponding response and/or revisions made in the manuscript. The form helps editors and reviewers track how the authors have handled the feedback and whether their concerns have been adequately addressed. Download here

Research Articles

Original research articles within the journal’s aims and scope undergo initial editorial screening followed by double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers.

Privacy Statement

The Journal of Resilient Urbanism & Sustainable Design (JRUSD; eISSN 3067-6029) respects the privacy of authors, reviewers, editors, readers, and other users of its website and publishing services. Personal data collected by JRUSD are used only for legitimate journal operations, editorial management, peer review, publication, communication, digital preservation, and maintenance of the scholarly record. Such information is handled responsibly and confidentially.

  • Data collected: JRUSD may collect personal information such as name, affiliation, email address, ORCID iD (if provided), and submission- or review-related metadata necessary for managing manuscripts and peer review.
  • Purpose of use: Personal data are used to (i) process submissions, (ii) administer peer review, including double-blind review workflows, (iii) communicate editorial decisions and publication updates, (iv) manage author and reviewer accounts, and (v) maintain the integrity and traceability of the scholarly record.
  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts, peer-review reports, and editorial correspondence are treated as confidential. Personal data and manuscript-related records are accessible only to authorized editorial staff and, where relevant, to assigned editors and reviewers.
  • Sharing with third parties: JRUSD does not sell, rent, or trade personal data. Information is not shared with third parties except where required for essential journal services, such as website hosting or email delivery, or when required by law. Any service providers engaged by JRUSD are expected to handle data securely and only for the intended purpose.
  • Emails and notifications: JRUSD may send emails related to submissions, review invitations, editorial decisions, publication notices, and journal administration. Users may update their communication preferences where applicable.
  • Data security: JRUSD applies reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. However, no internet-based system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
  • Data retention: JRUSD retains personal data and editorial records only for as long as necessary to fulfill editorial, legal, and scholarly record-keeping requirements, including maintaining the integrity of published content and peer-review history.
  • User rights: Users may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal data, subject to reasonable limits and the journal’s obligations to preserve the scholarly record, including published articles and essential editorial records. Requests should be submitted to the Journal Administration.
  • Policy updates: JRUSD may revise this Privacy Statement when necessary to reflect changes in its publishing services, website infrastructure, editorial procedures, or applicable requirements. The current version will be published on the journal website.
  • Contact: JRUSD is an independently operated, non-commercial, online scholarly journal published in the United States under the publishing name Journal of Resilient Urbanism & Sustainable Design. JRUSD is not currently incorporated as a separate legal entity and is not published by an external commercial, institutional, university, or scholarly-society publisher.

    The journal’s official correspondence location is in Sherwood Forest, Los Angeles, California, United States. Day-to-day editorial and administrative activities are coordinated from Lincoln, Nebraska, United States.
