JRUSD Introduces the EEBE Corner, Edited by Professor Mark Bomberg

2026-08-22

The Journal of Resilient Urbanism & Sustainable Design (JRUSD) is pleased to introduce the EEBE Corner (Energy Efficiency and Building Environment), a scholarly forum integrated within JRUSD and dedicated to focused discussion on energy efficiency, building environments, integrated building performance, and related issues in sustainable design.

The EEBE Corner is edited by Professor Mark Bomberg, Research Professor at Clarkson University, who has joined the JRUSD Editorial Board as EEBE Corner Editor.

The Corner provides a space for concise scholarly exchange through Questions (Q), Comments (C), and Perspectives (P). Contributions should normally not exceed 2,000 words and should address topics related to Energy Efficiency (EE) or the Building Environment (BE). EEBE Corner contributions are handled within JRUSD’s editorial framework, with external expert input sought where appropriate.

We are pleased to share the following introductory message from Professor Bomberg, offering readers a personal introduction to the spirit and purpose of the EEBE Corner.

Greetings from the Corner Editor

There is a saying that a scientist does not disappear, but that his or her picture gradually loses contrast and slowly disperses into the background. The exception may be those of us whom nuclear physicists might call “light physicists”—those interested in transferring knowledge for the sake of knowledge, rather than for the sake of a scientific career. Perhaps they may live a little longer through the knowledge they share.

I never had a website until the dean asked a student to place my name and photograph on the university profile so that I could use my private email. Therefore, if you do not find what you are looking for on ResearchGate, please send your question through the Journal, and the editorial office will forward it to me.

Here are the rules of the EEBE Corner:

  1. Questions, Comments, and Perspectives (Q, C, or P) are welcome.
  2. A Q, C, or P should not exceed 2,000 words. A letter to the editor may contain different types of messages, but if there is a question marked with “?”, you may expect—sooner or later—an answer.
  3. Only Questions, Comments, or Perspectives related to Energy Efficiency (EE) or the Building Environment (BE) may initiate discussion in the forum. We do not address AI (Artificial Intelligence) or NI (“Natural Idiocy”), even though we often encounter both in construction technology.
